We had a brilliant day at the #BBC last weekend talking about all things #beards on the Jamie Owen show. If you missed it here is the link below.

Thank you so much for all the kind words about the show. It was lovely to talk about upcoming #Movember and just give a few tips for anybody who is considering entering the beard game.

The Gruff Kitchen is crazy busy at the moment. We have just commissioned our first T-Shirt design by the very talented Rhiannon Archard and we are currently in negotiations about some hand crafted beard boxes! So watch this space…..

Lately I’ve been using products from Gruff Beard, a fairly new company coming out of Cardiff in Wales.  Run by a lovely couple, Adam and Nic (Adam is the bearded one) their aim is to offer high end products at low prices and I think that they’re definitely heading in the right direction.

I used an oil and a balm from their new blend Bergamot and Patchouli Citrus fresh and I wasn’t disappointed. It is a sweet citrus smelling product which is not overpowering so is great for everyday wear. The oil makes use of good carrier oils including sweet almond, Jojoba, Argan and vitamin E so is great for your skin and beard, you won’t need to use a lot as a little really does go a long way.


The biggest surprise though came in a small package, the beard balm, same scent but this balm really did help tame my beard.  I’ve used a few different balms now…

Big Bushy Beards- Gruff Beard Stuff


I thought it was about time I actually blogged about something beard related instead of just posting photos of my face warmer what with the blogs title!!

What can I say I’m follicially gifted, what was once a curse of constant 5 o’clock shadow soon turned to a blessing once beards became an item on many modern mans wish list. Gone are the associations with hippies and hobos being the only ones to sport a chin tickler and now top sportsman too world class business men alike embrace nature and let their facial hair flourish. Some see this beard growing phenomenon as a fad, a blip on the pop fashion radar, but I see it as more than that, something here to stay. Men being men and by all accounts most women seem pretty happy with this decision.
